Lincoln Amphitheatre announced its 2012 season line-up on Thursday, October 20.
2012 Production Season Line-up:
A. LINCOLN: A Pioneer Tale; June 1 – June 30, Wednesday-Saturday evenings with One Sunday matinee on July 1. Playwright Ken Jones writes a new Lincoln musical about Abraham Lincoln’s boyhood years in Indiana. The woods Abraham Lincoln walked as a boy in Indiana is where Lincoln Amphitheatre sits today.
BETWEEN FRIENDS; April 27 – May 5, Friday and Saturday evenings with One Sunday matinee on April 29. Father Gavin Barnes, OSB, a Benedictine Monk from Saint Meinrad, wrote a play about the relationships and conversations between President Lincoln, General Ulysses S. Grant, and General William T. Sherman.
JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT: July 20 – August 4, Wednesday – Saturday evenings with One Sunday Matinee on August 5. This production is in partnership with Evansville Civic Theatre and Lincoln Amphitheatre. The two-act musical play is about Joseph, a boy with prophetic dreams, who is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt. He experiences a series of adventures that challenge him on a spiritual level. The musical arrangement styles range from country-western to bubble gum pop, and rock n’ roll.
THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940: September 14 – 22, Friday and Saturday evenings.It’s about a creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop due to the murder of three chorus girls by the “Stage Door Slasher.” The team assembles for abacker’s audition of their new show at the Westchester estate of a wealthy “angel,” The house is replete with sliding panels and secret passageways where the murders continue.
